Wolves have reached an agreement to sign Genk striker Tolu Arokodare in a deal worth £24m as they look to strengthen their attack after a difficult start to the Premier League season.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward enjoyed a prolific campaign in Belgium last term, finishing as the Jupiler Pro League’s joint-top scorer with 21 goals as Genk secured third place. Since joining from Latvian side Valmiera in 2023, Arokodare has netted 41 goals in 113 appearances for the club.
Arokodare is expected to provide valuable support to Norway international Jørgen Strand Larsen, who remains a key part of Wolves’ plans despite attracting significant interest. Newcastle United have already had two bids of £50m and £55m rejected for the striker. Head coach Vítor Pereira has long been keen to add another forward but insists Arokodare is not being signed as a replacement for Strand Larsen.
Meanwhile, Wolves are also weighing up a move for former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill. The 29-year-old midfielder is available on a free transfer after leaving Turf Moor in the summer. Brownhill scored 18 goals last season to help Burnley seal promotion back to the Premier League and has already held talks with the Midlands club.
However, Wolves’ recruitment options are restricted as they have filled their quota of non-homegrown players, meaning only homegrown additions can now be registered.
The reinforcements come at a crucial time, with Wolves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table after three consecutive defeats, most recently a 3-2 home loss to Everton on Saturday. Pereira will be hoping the arrival of Arokodare, and potentially Brownhill, can spark a turnaround in fortunes.
