Boubacar Traoré has completed a season-long loan move back to French side FC Metz for the 2025-26 campaign.
The Malian midfielder originally left Metz for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022, first joining on loan before making the move permanent. During his time at Molineux, Traoré made 44 appearances across all competitions, showing promise with his energy and ball-winning abilities.
However, limited game time in the 2024-25 season, just three appearances, prompted the decision to seek more regular first-team football elsewhere. Wolves confirmed the move in a statement: “After playing just three times last season, Traoré has returned on a temporary basis in a bid to receive more opportunities on the pitch.”
The 23-year-old now returns to familiar surroundings at Metz, where he previously made his professional breakthrough. The Ligue 1 club will be hoping that Traoré’s return will bolster their midfield options and help drive a stronger campaign this season.
