Yaroslava Mahuchikh, a Ukrainian high jump champion, conquered the 1,96 meters bar on the first attempt and won the “Gold” stage of the World Athletics Continental Tour in Tokyo, said Suspilne Sport.
For the first time in nine years, the Continental tour World Athletics organized the “Gold” competition. Its last winner was Elizabeth Patterson, the US high jumper, who jumped 1,92 meters.
This year, Mahuchikh missed the first four heights and started the competition with a mark of 1,91 meters. As a result of the jumpers’ performances, no other athletes remained on the starting four bars in the sector.
After that, Mahuchikh set her sights on the next height, 1,96 meters, which she cleared on the first attempt.
Michaela Hrubá, 2016 U20 world champion, Tatiana Gusin, seven-time Greek champion, and Elisabeth Pihela, two-time Junior Euro medalist, competed with Mahuchikh.
Earlier, Mahuchikh won the What Gravity Challenge tournament in Qatar Doha. She conquered the 2,02-meter bar on the first attempt, setting the season’s world record.
