Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has spoken candidly about the challenges he faced in his first season with Coventry City, admitting that injury struggles held back his performances.
The 25-year-old managed six goals in 43 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign but has started the new season in sharper form, finding the net twice in his opening three matches.
Reflecting ahead of Coventry’s Championship clash with Oxford United, where a win could see the Sky Blues rise from fourth to the top of the table, Thomas-Asante explained how injuries disrupted his rhythm last year.
“Last year, I was sort of trying to play on a bit of an injury and I ended up being out for a little while,” he said. “As a striker, getting in the right positions is important, and I’m grateful to the staff. Over the offseason, I was able to rest and recover, and now I feel good in my body. I’m happy to be back at a level I’m comfortable with.”
Now fully fit, the in-form striker is targeting another strong performance at the Kassam Stadium as Coventry push for early-season momentum.
Despite his bright start, Thomas-Asante was left out of Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
