Legendary American rapper Snoop Dogg has officially joined the ownership group of English Championship side Swansea City, acquiring a minority stake in the club as part of an ongoing effort to elevate its profile and global appeal.

The 53-year-old music icon, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was recently revealed as the surprise model for Swansea’s new 2025/26 home kit, sparking widespread speculation. That speculation was confirmed this week as the club formally announced his role as co-owner and investor.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement on the club’s official website.
“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club, an underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

Snoop Dogg now joins Real Madrid and Croatia legend Luka Modrić, who recently signed with AC Milan, as part of the ownership group that came into power following a takeover in November 2024 by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen. Cravatt and Cohen are believed to have played a key role in bringing Snoop Dogg into the fold through mutual connections.

The new owners have been vocal about their ambition to boost Swansea’s global reach and commercial strength under English Football League (EFL) profit and sustainability rules. In a club statement, they said:
“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is ‘the next episode’ for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile.”
“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.”

With over 100 million followers across his social media platforms, Snoop Dogg’s involvement is expected to significantly amplify the Swans’ visibility across international markets.

Although his participation in the kit launch appeared to be a publicity stunt, the club hinted early on that Snoop’s role would extend far beyond that moment. Swansea has since unveiled a mural of the hip-hop legend inside the West Stand of the Swansea.com Stadium to commemorate his entry into club ownership.

The rapper’s long-standing passion for sports is well documented, including active involvement in youth football programs in the United States. Swansea’s leadership believes his commitment and enthusiasm will help attract fresh opportunities both on and off the pitch.

“He has openly shared his desire to be involved in football, and we expect his contribution to help us field the most competitive team possible,” the club added.

Meanwhile, co-owners Cravatt and Cohen, despite being U.S.-based, continue to show strong engagement with the club. This week, they joined Swansea’s pre-season training camp in Spain, where they were pictured mingling with players and staff.

Snoop Dogg’s entrance into Swansea City ownership marks a bold new chapter for the club, one fueled by global ambition, creative vision, and a growing roster of high-profile supporters.
