Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to FC Barcelona, with the 27-year-old now in Spain to finalise the transfer.
Rashford arrived in Catalonia on Sunday night aboard a private jet, following United’s approval for him to complete the formalities of the deal. His arrival quickly gained traction across social media, fuelling excitement among Barcelona fans.
Negotiations between the two clubs accelerated over the past week, culminating in an agreement in principle over the weekend. Manchester United have since granted Rashford permission to proceed with the move.
The deal is structured as an initial 12-month loan, with Barcelona retaining an option to make the transfer permanent next summer. The switch marks Rashford’s second consecutive loan spell, following a six-month stint with Aston Villa during the latter half of last season.
The England international has been open about seeking a new challenge. In December, he made it clear that Barcelona was his preferred destination after being dropped by then-United head coach Ruben Amorim.
Rashford is expected to undergo a medical with the La Liga club early this week. If all goes to plan, he could join the Barcelona squad for their upcoming pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, which kicks off on Thursday.
Should he be included in the travelling squad, Rashford may line up against a familiar face, former Manchester United teammate Jesse Lingard. The 32-year-old midfielder is currently in his second season with South Korean club FC Seoul, who are scheduled to face Barcelona in a friendly on 31 July.
Rashford joined Manchester United’s senior team in 2016 and has made over 350 appearances for the club, becoming a key figure both on and off the pitch. His potential move to Barcelona marks a significant chapter in his career and offers a fresh opportunity to regain form and confidence on a new stage.
