Newcastle United are in ongoing negotiations with Nottingham Forest over the potential signing of winger Anthony Elanga in a deal that could be worth up to £55 million.
Although an agreement has not yet been finalised, sources indicate that discussions are progressing well, with both clubs open to completing the transfer. While Forest have reportedly set their asking price at £55 million, Newcastle have so far declined to publicly comment on the valuation.
Elanga, 23, joined Nottingham Forest from Manchester United in the summer of 2023 for a reported £15 million. He made an immediate impact in his debut season at the City Ground, registering six goals and 11 assists in the Premier League under manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
The Sweden international, who came through the youth ranks at Manchester United after joining the club at age 12, made 55 senior appearances for the Red Devils before moving on in search of regular first-team football.
With Newcastle preparing for a return to the Champions League following their fifth-place finish last season, manager Eddie Howe is keen to add pace and creativity to his attacking options. Elanga’s speed, work rate, and versatility across the front line have made him a key target as the Magpies look to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.
