Flag Football in Ghana Gains Momentum as 10 African Nations Join Coaches and Officials Training Programmes
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Flag football in Ghana has taken a major step forward following the successful participation of coaches and officials from ten African countries in a series of education and training programmes aimed at developing the sport across the continent.

The initiative, hosted in Ghana, brought together participants from various African nations to undergo intensive technical, officiating, and administrative training designed to strengthen capacity and standardize flag football development in Africa.

The programme focused on modern coaching techniques, rules interpretation, game management, athlete safety, and grassroots development strategies. Experienced instructors and facilitators guided participants through both classroom sessions and practical field activities, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

Officials involved in the training emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for sustainable growth. By equipping coaches and referees with the necessary skills and knowledge, the programme seeks to improve the quality of competition and foster consistency in officiating across African flag football competitions.

Ghana’s role as host underscored its growing reputation as a hub for flag football development on the continent. Local organizers highlighted that the exposure and exchange of ideas among African nations would accelerate the sport’s growth and encourage wider participation at youth and senior levels.

Participants praised the initiative for its high standards and collaborative atmosphere, noting that the training would have a lasting impact when applied in their respective countries. Many expressed optimism that the programme would contribute to increased competitiveness and stronger continental representation in international flag football events.

With continued investment in education and capacity building, stakeholders believe flag football in Africa is well-positioned for rapid expansion, increased professionalism, and long-term success.
