Colombian international Jhon Duran has completed a one-year loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, just six months after making a high-profile £71 million switch from Aston Villa.
The 21-year-old forward enjoyed a productive spell in both England and Saudi Arabia, scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances for Aston Villa last season before adding another 12 goals in just 18 matches for Al-Nassr following his January transfer.
Fenerbahce confirmed the loan deal in an official statement:
“Our club has reached an agreement with both the club and the player for Jhon Duran to join our squad on a one-year loan. We wish our player a season full of success under our striped jersey.”
Duran, who has netted three goals in 17 appearances for the Colombian national team, began his European career at Villa Park after joining from MLS side Chicago Fire for £18 million in January 2023. During his time at Villa, he scored 20 goals in 78 appearances—although the majority of those outings came from the bench, as he struggled to displace England striker Ollie Watkins in the starting XI.
Despite a strong start in Saudi Arabia, where he helped Al-Nassr finish third in the Saudi Pro League, Duran now heads to Turkey for the 2025 season under the guidance of Fenerbahce’s newly appointed manager, José Mourinho. Meanwhile, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo remains at Al-Nassr, having signed a new two-year deal with the club last month.
Fenerbahce will be hoping Duran’s arrival bolsters their attacking options as they aim to go one better than last season, when they finished second in the Turkish Super Lig.
