Desmond Ofei has officially concluded his tenure as head coach of Ghana’s U20 national team, the Black Satellites, following a triumphant 2-0 victory over Niger in the third-place playoff of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Championship.
The win, secured at the University of Ghana Stadium, saw Aziz Musibau net a brace to seal the bronze medal for Ghana and mark a successful end to Ofei’s three-year spell in charge of the team.
This latest medal becomes the second major honour earned under Ofei’s leadership, adding to the African Games title and a runner-up finish in the 2024 edition of the WAFU B tournament. His side also reached the quarterfinals of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations and the semifinals of the current WAFU B competition, reinforcing his legacy of consistency and competitiveness.
Throughout his tenure, Ofei was widely credited for his technical leadership, player development, and tactical discipline, helping to mold a new generation of promising Ghanaian talent. His strategic approach and mentorship allowed young players to gain invaluable experience on both regional and continental stages.
