Chelsea have opened transfer discussions as they target two of the Netherlands’ brightest young talents — Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons — in a bid to bolster both their defence and attack ahead of the new season.
The Blues are in direct communication with Ajax and Hato’s representatives to explore the possibility of signing the highly-rated 19-year-old centre-back. Hato enjoyed a standout campaign in the Eredivisie, making 31 appearances and quickly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders. Talks are currently at an early stage, and no agreement has been reached.
At the same time, Chelsea are moving forward with their interest in Xavi Simons, 22, and are now in the process of negotiating personal terms with the player. The Netherlands international is said to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge, where he would add creativity and attacking flair to the squad.
Simons, who joined RB Leipzig permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in January following two productive loan spells, is also attracting attention from top European clubs. Bayern Munich have expressed interest but are currently prioritising a move for Liverpool winger Luis Díaz. Meanwhile, Arsenal have been informed of Simons’ availability and are monitoring his situation as they assess their summer targets.
Although no transfer deals have been finalized, Chelsea’s active pursuit of both Hato and Simons reflects their ambition to rejuvenate the squad with elite young talent.
