Canada international Ashley Lawrence has completed a move to French giants Olympique Lyonnais, bringing her two-year spell at Chelsea to an end.
The 30-year-old attacking full-back made a significant impact during her time in West London, helping the Blues secure four major trophies — including back-to-back Women’s Super League titles. She made 60 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and registering eight assists.
Lawrence played a key role in Chelsea’s dominant 2024–25 campaign, featuring in 30 matches and contributing to an unbeaten domestic treble under manager Sonia Bompastor’s first season at the helm.
Before joining Chelsea in 2023, Lawrence had a standout career with Paris Saint-Germain, where she famously helped end Lyon’s 14-year reign as French champions in 2021. Her return to France sees her now join the very club she once dethroned.
As part of the summer’s transfer activity, Chelsea are expected to sign Lyon’s Australian full-back Ellie Carpenter as a replacement, signaling a strategic swap between two of Europe’s elite women’s sides.
