Arsenal are edging closer to securing a deal for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres following face-to-face negotiations between the clubs.
Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta travelled to Lisbon late last week to hold key discussions with Sporting officials, as the Premier League side intensified their pursuit of the Sweden international. Sources indicate that the talks represent a significant step forward in Arsenal’s well-documented search for a new centre-forward, with a deal potentially worth around £70 million.
While it remains unclear if Berta has since returned to London, his presence in Portugal highlights Arsenal’s urgency to finalise an agreement. Negotiations over personal terms with the 27-year-old forward are expected to be straightforward, with no major obstacles anticipated on that front.
Gyokeres, who enjoyed a standout season in Portugal, has been a top target for Arsenal as they look to add firepower to Mikel Arteta’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
In addition to the Gyokeres move, Arsenal are also finalising the signing of Brentford captain Christian Norgaard. The Denmark international midfielder is set to complete formalities on a transfer valued at up to £15 million in the coming days.
Elsewhere, the North London club is weighing up whether to proceed with a move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. Arsenal have already reached an agreement on personal terms with the 23-year-old England international and are now considering whether to formalise a bid. Chelsea are aware of the interest and open to negotiations.
With several high-profile deals progressing simultaneously, Arsenal appear poised for a busy and ambitious summer transfer window as they strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
