Antony’s transfer from Manchester United to Real Betis has been revived after the two clubs agreed on a deal worth €25m (£21.65m) for the Brazilian winger.
United initially believed a deal had been secured on Friday, but Betis announced they were withdrawing their offer. The breakdown stemmed from Antony’s request for part of his Manchester United contract to be paid off.
However, negotiations continued over the weekend, and both sides have now reached a breakthrough. According to United sources, the agreement is structured as €22m (£19.06m) upfront with €3m (£2.59m) in add-ons, alongside a 50% net sell-on clause. Importantly, there will be no contract pay-off made to the player.
Betis sources have also confirmed that an outline agreement is in place, with only one minor detail to be finalized before the deal is officially signed. Antony is now expected to undergo a medical ahead of his permanent switch to Spain.
The 25-year-old winger joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022 for £81.3m, making 62 Premier League appearances in which he scored five goals and provided three assists. He moved to Real Betis on loan in January, where he rediscovered form, scoring nine goals in 26 appearances across league and cup competitions. His permanent transfer is anticipated to be confirmed on Monday.
Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo is set to remain at Manchester United despite seeking a loan move for more playing time. The 20-year-old midfielder, who was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad, featured as a substitute in United’s 3-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.
