Manchester City winger and Belgium international Jeremy Doku has reaffirmed his deep connection to Ghana during a heartfelt courtesy visit to the country’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, in Accra.

The 23-year-old, who is enjoying his summer break, was accompanied by his father, Mr. Davies Doku, and other relatives. The visit was both symbolic and purposeful, reflecting Doku’s growing desire to contribute meaningfully to his country of ancestry.

Doku expressed his sincere appreciation for the unwavering support he continues to receive from Ghanaians around the world. Speaking in Twi and with emotion, he stated:
“I cannot shine unless people put me on. I’m proud of my Ghanaian roots, I speak Twi, and I want to come back more often to give back to the land of my parents.”

Minister Kofi Adams welcomed Doku warmly and hailed him as a role model and a global ambassador for Ghanaian excellence.
“Though you play for Belgium, every time you step on the pitch, Ghana is mentioned,” the Minister said. “We are proud of your growth and even more inspired by your heart.”

Beyond the ceremonial aspect of the visit, Doku’s commitment to philanthropy was evident. He quietly visited Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Achimota Hospital as part of ongoing efforts to support health-related causes in Ghana. His engagement in these areas reflects a deeper mission to make lasting contributions beyond football.

Lady Dentaa Amoateng, who led Doku’s delegation, revealed that the young star is eager to invest in Ghana’s youth and health sectors, particularly in grassroots football and healthcare development.

“Jeremy is ready to do more. He understands the needs here and wants to be a part of the solution,” she noted.

The visit concluded with an exchange of symbolic gifts and a formal invitation for Doku to participate in upcoming youth football clinics organized by the Sports Ministry. These clinics aim to discover and nurture emerging talent across Ghana while strengthening bonds with the diaspora.

Jeremy Doku’s visit serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring ties between Ghana and its sons and daughters abroad. His story inspires many, both on and off the field, as a testament to how global success can be used to uplift communities at home.
