Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Swedish winger Anthony Elanga in a deal worth £55 million.
The move comes as Newcastle aim to bolster their attacking options ahead of their return to Champions League football, following a fifth-place finish in the 2024–25 Premier League season.
Elanga, 23, enjoyed an impressive campaign with Forest under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, scoring six goals and registering 11 assists. His performances have caught the eye of several top clubs, but it is Newcastle who have secured his services.
This marks Newcastle’s first major financial outlay of the summer transfer window. So far, the only addition to their squad has been 18-year-old Spanish winger Antonio Cordero, who joined on a free transfer from Malaga.
Nottingham Forest initially signed Elanga from Manchester United in 2023 for £15 million. The winger had been with United since the age of 12 and made 55 senior appearances for the Red Devils before moving to the City Ground.
Pending a medical and final personal terms, Elanga is set to become one of the marquee signings of the summer as Newcastle prepare for a packed domestic and European campaign.
