Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku has expressed strong confidence in the club’s chances of performing well in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors secured their qualification for the continental competition after edging out Golden Kick SC 2-1 in the MTN FA Cup final. Opoku played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring both goals, including a decisive late penalty, to seal the win.
Since rejoining the Kumasi-based giants in December, the 24-year-old striker has been in fine form, finding the back of the net consistently and reestablishing himself as a key figure in Kotoko’s attack.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Opoku highlighted the significance of playing in continental tournaments and the positive impact it has on player development.
“Playing in the CAF Confederation Cup boosts your morale and helps you grow as a player,” he said. “I believe that as we prepare to represent Ghana in Africa next season, we will do well as a team. Personally, I will do everything I can to help us achieve our targets.”
Kotoko will next face rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2024 President’s Cup on July 6, a clash that promises to be another exciting chapter in Ghana’s storied football rivalry.
