Checkout the venues for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

From basketball to badminton and swimming to squash, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will boast a mixture of world-class sport across 11 days this summer. Between July 29 – August 8, 15 venues will host the multi-sport event, showcasing the best Midlands facilities the region has to offer.

Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry are among some of the locations hosting the events. Smethwick in particular will be a popular location upon the completion of the £73 million Sandwell aquatics centre.

Elsewhere Leamington Spa will be one such popular spot after a £2 million redevelopment to their station ahead of the games. Here’s the full list of all venues at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Alexander Stadium

Walsall Road, Perry Barr, B42 2LR

The redeveloped Alexander Stadium will take centre stage at the games, hosting athletics as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.

Edgbaston Stadium

The famous Cricket stadium will be showcasing the best of what the Commonwealth nations have to offer by hosting the first ever Women’s Cricket T20 at the games.

Sandwell Aquatics Centre

The £73m aquatics centre will be hosting swimming, para swimming and diving across the games right in the heart of Smethwick.

The NEC

Given the size of The NEC, it is no surprise that Birmingham 2022 are making the most out of the venue with a variety of sports scheduled to take place there. Boxing, table tennis and para table tennis, badminton, netball, weightlifting and para Powerlifting will all feature at The NEC this summer.

Arena Birmingham

King Edwards Road, Birmingham, B1 2AA

Artistic and rhythmic gymnastics will be a part of the games this year and will take place in the city centre spot of Arena Birmingham.

Cannock Chase Forest

Birches Valley, Rugeley, WS15 2UQ

Mountain bike cycling will take place in the Cannock forest with the first person to cross the finish line claiming the gold medal.

Coventry Stadium & Arena

Judds Lane, Coventry, CV6 6GE

Both wrestling and judo will take place inside the arena, whilst the stadium will be showcased for rugby 7’s at the games.

University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre

Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 2TT

Hockey and squash will be spotlighted at the University of Birmingham venue, with the hockey pitch recently being upgraded to world-class, it will make for compelling viewing when teams walk out in the summer.

Victoria Park

23 Archery Road, Leamington Spa, CV31 3PT

Lawn bowls and para lawn bowls will feature at the historic Royal Leamington Spa Bowls Club in Victoria Park.

Smithfield

Birmingham, B5 6UB

The former wholesale market site in the city centre will be used as a temporary games venue with basketball 3×3, wheelchair basketball 3×3, beach volleyball and a marathon all featuring at the site.

St Nicholas Park

Warwick, CV34 4QY

Road race cycling will be brought to St Nicholas Park in Warwick. With the event on public roads, the cycling brings the games closer to the community than ever before.

Sutton Park

Sutton Coldfield, B73 6LH

Both triathlon and the para triathlon will come to the 2,400 acre park in Sutton Coldfield.

Victoria Square

Birmingham, B1 1BB

The famous city centre spot Victoria Square will be the finishing point of the marathon event for the Commonwealth Games.

West Park

76 Park Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4PH

Time trial cycling will come to Wolverhampton in a sport where riders will ride on their own and are pitted against the clock in a fast-paced spectacle.

Lee Valley Velopark

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Abercrombie Road, London, E20 3A

The only venue taking place outside of the West Midlands, track and para track cycling will feature at the 2012 Olympics venue in London.
