Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games: Where and when ticket holders for the Games can travel free of charge on bus, tram and rail across the West Midlands

Those lucky enough to nab a ticket for the Commonwealth Games automatically receive free travel across the West Midlands and games venues. If however you are planning to travel outside the venue cluster for some further exploration, the free offer has its limits, but we have all the details below.

Commonwealth Games ticket holders can enjoy free public transport within the nNetwork area for the day of the event they have a ticket for.

Here’s where and when you can enjoy free travel for the Commonwealth Games inside the nNetwork area:

Wolverhampton West Park – Cycling August 4

Sutton Park – Triathlon and Para Triathlon July 29-31

Alexander Stadium – Opening and closing ceremonies July 28 and August 8, Athletics and Para Athletics August 2-7

Sandwell Aquatics Centre – Swimming and Para Swimming July 29-Augst 3 and Diving August 4-8

Arena Birmingham – Artistic Gymnastics July 29-August 2 and Rhythmic Gymnastics August 4-6

Smithfield – Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball July 29-August 2, Beach Volleyball July 30-August 7

Edgbaston Stadium – Cricket T20 July 29-31, August 2-4 and 6-7

Birmingham University – Hockey and Squash July 28-August 8

The NEC – Netball, Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting, Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis, Boxing, Badminton (several dates)

Coventry Stadium and Arena – Rugby Sevens July 29-31

Three venues outside the nNetwork also offer free travel:

Cannock Chase for the mountain biking – CrossCountry and London Northwestern Railway services between Wolverhampton and Stafford (one day only on Wednesday, August 3)

St Nicholas Park in Warwick for the cycling road race – Warwick-Chiltern Railways and West Midlands Railway services between Dorridge, Coventry and Warwick, and Stagecoach bus services (X17 and X18) (one day on Sunday, August 7)

Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa for the lawn bowls – West Midlands Railway, CrossCountry and Chiltern Railways services between Dorridge, Coventry and Leamington Spa, National Express (service 11) and Stagecoach bus services (X17 and X18) – (several dates)

Travel to Lee Valley Velodrome in London is not included. Ticket holders can travel via West Midlands bus, rail and tram and must begin and end within the nNetwork area. Ticket splitting is an absolute no, organisers have said.
