Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has praised the country’s successful hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing the tournament as a landmark achievement that showcased Morocco’s organisational strength, hospitality and sporting ambition.

In a message addressed to the nation, the monarch commended all institutions and individuals involved in delivering a smooth and memorable tournament, from security and health services to volunteers and football administrators. He noted that the competition reflected Morocco’s growing stature as a trusted host of major international sporting events.

King Mohammed VI highlighted the modern infrastructure, world-class stadiums and efficient logistics that underpinned the tournament’s success, stressing that these elements were the result of long-term investment and strategic planning. He also applauded the warm reception given to teams, officials and supporters from across Africa.

The King further acknowledged the role of football in strengthening unity and cultural exchange on the continent, saying AFCON provided a platform for celebration, friendship and shared African identity. He expressed pride in the way Moroccan citizens embraced the tournament, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the host cities.

Morocco’s hosting efforts earned widespread praise from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), participating nations and fans, with many citing the tournament as one of the best-organised editions in recent history.

The royal endorsement caps a successful AFCON campaign for Morocco off the pitch and reinforces the country’s reputation as a leading destination for major football events, as it continues to position itself at the forefront of African and global sport.
