Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League league phase produced a compelling night of football across Europe, with dramatic comebacks, statement victories, and results that significantly reshaped the standings.

With just one round of fixtures remaining, the battle to finish inside the top eight—positions that guarantee automatic qualification to the Round of 16 and avoid the uncertainty of the playoffs—has intensified. While several sides took major steps toward securing their place, others were left facing decisive final-day encounters.

Across nine matches, the night delivered shocks, resilience, and high-quality performances as the competition edged closer to its knockout stages.

Qarabag 3–2 Eintracht Frankfurt

One of the biggest surprises came in Azerbaijan, where Qarabag claimed a thrilling 3–2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The hosts showed composure and attacking bravery, overturning setbacks and punishing defensive errors to seal a famous European win. The result keeps Qarabag firmly in contention for a playoff place and stands as one of their most notable Champions League triumphs, while Frankfurt’s hopes of a top-eight finish suffered a significant blow.

Galatasaray 1–1 Atlético Madrid

In Istanbul, Galatasaray battled to a hard-fought draw against Atlético Madrid in a contest defined by intensity and tactical discipline.

Atlético struck first but failed to hold on as Galatasaray pressed relentlessly. The point keeps the Spanish side in a strong position, though they will need a positive result on the final matchday to secure automatic qualification. Galatasaray, meanwhile, remain firmly in the playoff race.

Atalanta 2–3 Athletic Club

Athletic Club produced one of their finest European performances with a dramatic away victory over Atalanta in Bergamo.

The visitors combined resilience with clinical finishing to edge a five-goal thriller. The win significantly boosts Athletic Club’s qualification hopes, while Atalanta now face a tense final matchday with little margin for error.

Bayern Munich 2–0 Union Saint-Gilloise

Bayern Munich delivered a professional home performance, defeating Union Saint-Gilloise 2–0 to maintain their place among the competition’s frontrunners.

The German giants controlled proceedings throughout, extending their impressive home record and securing direct qualification to the Round of 16. Union SG, despite a spirited debut campaign, now face an impossible task of reaching the playoffs.

Chelsea 1–0 Pafos

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea claimed a narrow but crucial victory over debutants Pafos.

A late goal proved decisive after the visitors defended bravely for long spells. The win keeps Chelsea’s top-eight hopes alive heading into the final round, while Pafos exit the competition with credit from their maiden Champions League campaign.

Juventus 2–0 Benfica

Juventus produced a composed and disciplined display to beat Benfica in Turin.

Goals in either half highlighted Juventus’ control and tactical maturity, strengthening their push for automatic qualification. Benfica, however, now face a must-win scenario in their final fixture.

Newcastle United 3–0 PSV Eindhoven

At St James’ Park, Newcastle United delivered one of the standout performances of the night, sweeping aside PSV Eindhoven with a commanding 3–0 win.

High-energy pressing and clinical finishing overwhelmed PSV, boosting Newcastle’s goal difference and keeping them firmly in the hunt for a top-eight finish.

Marseille 0–3 Liverpool

Liverpool were ruthless in France, cruising to a 3–0 away victory over Marseille.

The Reds struck at key moments and controlled the match with authority, placing themselves on the brink of automatic qualification. Marseille were left frustrated after failing to capitalise on early chances.

Slavia Prague 2–4 Barcelona

Barcelona showcased their resilience with a thrilling comeback win away to Slavia Prague.

After conceding early, the Catalan giants responded with fluid attacking football and clinical finishing, keeping their top-eight ambitions firmly on track and underlining the promise of their young attacking core.

As Matchday 7 concludes, the Champions League league phase is perfectly poised for a dramatic finale. Several heavyweights are close to sealing automatic qualification, while others face decisive battles to avoid the playoffs or secure progression.

With just one round remaining, every goal and every point will carry enormous significance as Europe’s elite prepare for a tense and thrilling conclusion to the league phase.
