Mohammed Salisu has marked another milestone in his rising European career after earning a well-deserved spot in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week.
The AS Monaco centre-back put in a commanding performance in the club’s crucial 1-0 win over Galatasaray on Tuesday, December 9. Salisu’s defensive prowess was particularly evident in his duel with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who was largely kept at bay thanks to the Ghanaian’s smart positioning and anticipation.
Salisu’s influence on the match was reflected in his statistics: he recorded 40 touches, completed 22 passes, and made eight crucial clearances, underpinning Monaco’s solid defensive display.
His selection for the Team of the Week highlights him as one of the standout performers of the matchday, as Monaco continues its campaign for a deep run in this season’s Champions League.
Salisu was the sole Ghanaian to feature in the chosen XI. Fellow Ghanaian Mohammed Kudus, despite scoring his first Champions League goal for Tottenham Hotspur, narrowly missed out on a spot in the team.
