Ghana’s Black Stars will face a test against Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup on Friday, November 14, at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, without several key players due to injuries. Alexander Djiku, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Fatawu Issahaku, Joseph Paintsil, and Mohammed Kudus have all withdrawn from the squad, forcing coach Otto Addo to call up new faces to fill the gaps.
Prince Owusu from CF Montreal, Kelvin Nkrumah from Medeama, and Czech-based striker Prince Kwabena Adu are among the new additions to the squad. Ghana will look to bounce back from the injuries and secure a positive result against Japan, who are coming off a 2-0 win over Bahrain in March, securing their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match is part of Ghana’s preparations for the World Cup, and Addo will be looking to assess his team’s readiness for the tournament. Ghana will face South Korea four days later, on Tuesday, November 18, in Seoul.
