Ghana’s Black Queens have one foot in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a stunning 3–0 victory over Egypt in the first leg of their second-round qualifier. The emphatic win not only showcased Ghana’s dominance but also brought them within touching distance of a long-awaited return to the continental stage.

It was a night to remember for Nora Häuptle’s side, who displayed composure, teamwork, and a killer instinct in front of goal. Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, breaking the deadlock just before halftime to give Ghana a deserved lead.

As Egypt struggled to find a response, the Black Queens turned up the heat in the closing stages. Rising star Mary Amponsah doubled the advantage in the 85th minute before Grace Asantewaa put the result beyond doubt with a superb finish in stoppage time.

The 3–0 win gives Ghana a commanding cushion heading into the return leg at home, where they’ll be looking to complete the job and officially book their ticket to the 2026 Women’s AFCON. With this performance, the Black Queens have sent a clear message to the rest of Africa — Ghana is back and hungry for glory.
