Cardiff City have completed the signing of Chelsea attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old underwent corrective surgery in March to address persistent hamstring problems and has since been eager to restart his career. Despite being open to dropping down to League One, Kellyman opted for a move to League One leaders Cardiff City, believing the club provides the right platform for his development.
Since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2024 for a reported £19m, Kellyman has struggled for playing time, featuring only four times for the Under-21s and yet to make his senior debut at Stamford Bridge.
Cardiff, who were relegated from the Championship last season, are currently unbeaten under new head coach Brian Barry-Murphy. The manager is also targeting at least two more additions before the close of the transfer window.
Kellyman becomes the club’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Nathan Trott and defender Gabriel Osho.
Speaking to Cardiff’s official website, Kellyman expressed his excitement about the move:
“I like to make things happen. I like to be forward-thinking and get on the ball as much as possible. I want to come here, get some goals and assists and help the team. I’ve been watching the recent games and it’s been great to see the exciting players we already have. I’m looking forward to playing with the lads.”
